1. What does the app do?

Share This Item by ittle.co automatically creates short, shareable links for every product in your Shopify store. These links make it easy for your customers to share your products on social media (including Facebook, X/Twitter, Pinterest), chat apps, and more — complete with rich social previews that display your product image, title, and description.

2. How does it improve SEO and social sharing?

The app injects Open Graph (OG) and Twitter meta tags dynamically, ensuring that shared links always include product images, titles, and clean descriptions. This helps your links display beautifully across platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, and ensures they're indexed properly by search engines like Google.

3. Do I need to edit my theme or code?

No theme edits are required. The app installs as a Theme App Extension, so you can simply add the "Share This Item" block to your product page using the Shopify Theme Editor — no code or developer needed.

4. How do short links work?

When a product is created or updated, a short link (for example, https://itl.onl/abc123 or https://share.yourdomain.com/abc123 if using a custom domain) is generated and stored in the product's metafields. The app block then uses this link for social share buttons and previews.

5. Can I use my own branded domain? NEW

Yes! You can now add a custom domain (like share.yourbrand.com) to use instead of itl.onl. Custom domains provide:

Brand consistency — Use your own domain for all shared links
Professional appearance — Share links that match your brand
Easy setup — Just add two DNS records (CNAME + TXT) and we handle the rest
Free SSL certificates — Automatic HTTPS for secure sharing

To set up a custom domain, go to the app's Custom Domain page and follow the step-by-step instructions.

6. Can I share products directly to my Facebook Page? NEW

Yes! The app now includes one-click Facebook Page sharing. Connect your Facebook account once, select which Page to post to, and share products instantly with:

Product image, title, and description
Your custom short link (or itl.onl link)
Automatic formatting for maximum engagement

This feature is currently in review with Facebook and will be available once approved.

7. Can I control which products generate short links?

Yes. You can manage all product short links from the app's admin panel. If a product has a short link, the Share block will appear automatically on its page. To hide sharing for an item, simply delete its short link inside the app — the block will disappear from that product's page.

8. Does it work with all Shopify themes?

Yes. Because it uses Shopify's native Theme App Extension framework, Share This Item by ittle.co works with all Online Store 2.0 themes and doesn't interfere with your existing design or layout.

9. Do my customers need to log in to share?

No. Customers can instantly share any product using the share buttons provided — no logins, no external tools, and no extra setup needed.

10. What domains do short links use?

By default, all links use the itl.onl domain (e.g., https://itl.onl/abc123). You can also set up your own custom branded domain (like share.yourbrand.com) for a more professional look. Custom domains include free SSL certificates and are easy to set up with just two DNS records.

11. How is this better than Bitly or other link tools?

Unlike third-party link shorteners, Share This Item by ittle.co runs entirely inside Shopify. It syncs product data automatically, updates links when product handles change, and doesn't require manual logins or dashboards. Additional benefits include:

12. Does it track clicks or analytics?

The backend infrastructure supports click tracking and analytics. Detailed engagement insights will be available in a future update, allowing you to see which products are most shared and how many clicks each link receives.

13. What happens if I delete or unpublish a product?

If a product is deleted or unpublished, its short link becomes inactive and hidden from the storefront. The app automatically manages this to prevent broken links.

14. Can I migrate from itl.onl to a custom domain later?

Yes! If you start with itl.onl and later add a custom domain, you have two options:

Keep Both (Recommended) — New custom domain URLs are created while old itl.onl links continue working. Nothing breaks!
Replace All — Coming soon. This will replace all existing links with custom domain versions.

Product metafields are automatically updated to show the new custom domain links.

15. What if I remove my custom domain?

If you remove a custom domain, the app automatically:

Creates new itl.onl links for all products
Updates all product metafields with the new links
Removes the old custom domain URLs

This ensures your products always have working share links, even when changing domains.

16. How do I bulk-generate links for all my products?

In the app's Products page, click the "Generate All" button. The app will:

Process all active products in your store
Create short links for each product
Update metafields automatically
Complete in the background (usually 30-60 seconds)

You can also regenerate individual product links or delete them as needed.

17. Can I search and filter products?

Yes! The Products page includes:

Search — Find products by title or handle
Pagination — View 25, 50, 100, or all products at once
Draft filtering — Show only active products or include drafts

This makes managing large catalogs easy and efficient.

18. How do I uninstall the app properly?

We'll miss you — but uninstalling is simple and secure:

Step 1: Run "Disconnect / Cleanup" in the app before uninstalling. This removes all custom.shorturl metafields from your products.
Step 2: Uninstall the app from Shopify. All data is immediately deleted from our servers — including short links, custom domains, store records, and API data.

If you reinstall later, you'll start fresh with new short links.

19. What if I reinstall later?

If you reinstall Share This Item by ittle.co, your previous data will not be restored. A clean environment ensures privacy, data isolation, and fresh link generation for all products.

20. Is my data secure?

Yes. We take security seriously:

Encrypted storage — All data is encrypted at rest
Secure connections — HTTPS/SSL for all communication
No data sharing — We never sell or share your data
Immediate deletion — Uninstalling removes all data permanently
Facebook OAuth — We never store your Facebook password
